Pandoid, a new laptop for school
I have a new laptop for my new course next year. As you all should know by now, with the way I am, "new" means "secondhand at best". I found a good looking laptop on Marketplace, and after about seven hours of fumbling and getting so lost I saw a mansion and horses, I returned home with her.
What's the first thing you do with a new laptop? Disregard everything and just go install Linux on it. I chose Linux Mint because I don't really know what the course will require of me yet... I won't until, like, a week before it happens.
Her name is pandoid. I'm typing this article up on her right now, just to prove that she works. The keys are snappy but I dislike how flat the keys on many keyboards are—my darling Let's Notes never treated me like this. Frankly, I'm unimpressed!
It's also just terrible to use a 16:9 monitor, after so long of 16:10 and then 5:4, I love my boxy shapes. But that's OK. I will survive... and so on.
Joking aside, she seems like a fine machine and I only plan on light work. I'm looking forward to getting to know her.
A Lenovo Ideapad with a disk tray and 1TB storage is great for me, although overkill, since again I only want to stick to my desktop. What am I going to do?! Shove all my music on her?! I have an iPod coming soon, dammit!
